Polly's Second ER visit

Well, Polly made it to 3 with only one ER visit, but had our second trip soon after her birthday.  Total freak accident, but so, so scary.  We were having a great morning, Chris and I both home, and getting the kids ready for school together. We were out in the drive way and the kids were climbing into the van.  Polly crawled into the floor board below her car seat and was being silly trying to make her sisters laugh.  Ryan, instead of going around to her side and getting in, climbed up into Polly's car seat and was trying to pull herself across when she slipped and fell onto Polly.  All her weight landed on Polly's head, so I knew Polly was going to be hurt and cry.  Ryan kind of froze, like she was shocked she had fallen, so I was awkwardly trying to pull her 55 pound body off of Polly.  When I picked Polly up she was silent so I was waiting for the big cry.  I turned her towards me and all of a sudden her eyes rolled back in her head and she went limp.  Then she became stiff and started having a seizure.  I was screaming and Chris came running out.  He grabbed her and tried to stimulate her.  She was knocked completely out, and posturing and seizing.  It was horrific to watch. I was read to call 911, but after 30 seconds she came to.  She was post-ictal and very out of it. Emma and especially Ryan were bawling. They were both so scared.  It was a terrible thing to witness.  I had screamed at Ryan too, so she felt terrible and guilty. Chris took Polly inside to lay on the couch and I dropped Ryan and Emma, both still crying, at school. I felt terrible dropping them off, but all I could think about was getting Polly to the ER.  When I got back home, 5 minutes later, Polly was laying on the couch very lethargic and pale.  We decided to run her by her pediatricians office (she had a 9:00 well baby appointment already scheduled).  When we walked in the door and told them what had happened they told us to take her to the ER. Thankfully, we have friends that work there since Chris used to and they knew we were headed their way.  The car ride was terrible.  Polly was gagging and dry heaving and trying to fall asleep.  I was so worried and it felt like forever to get there.  We finally arrived, and they immediately triaged us to a trauma room and she was seen immediately by a physician.  He ordered a CT to take sure she didn't have a bleed.  Thankfully, while waiting for the CT she started to perk up and her color came back. I got to go back with her to the CT and she was so brave.  While we waited for the results I called my mom and dad and had them check on Ryan and Emma.  I felt so bad leaving them at school so upset.  My parents ended up pulling the girls out of school for an hour and taking them home to make cards for Polly and eat lunch.  Poor Ryan told my dad later that she thought he was coming to school to tell her that Polly had died.  That broke my heart when I found out.  Thankfully, the CT came back normal and Polly was diagnosed with an "impact seizure" and concussion.  We watched her closely for 24 hours and she has completely returned to her wild and silly self.  We are hoping for NO MORE ER visits!

So scary.
My baby was not acting right.

She got a sticker for being so brave in the CT machine.

All smiles!

3rd Birthday Letters to Polly

My sweet, sweet Polly,

How can you be three!?!?!?! My teeny, tiny 6 pound baby.  What a big girl you have become, especially since you started pre-school this year.  You LOVE school and you have learned and matured so much since starting. You love your school friends and adore your two teachers. You are finally in panties and doing so well with the tinkle part.  We still have some work to do on #2, but you can't help that completely since you still take a daily ex-lax. You still love your paci, but we are working on taking it away.  I have been in no hurry to make you do anything. You can stay a baby forever!  You don't use your pacifier at all at school, not even for your nap. So, it is just your sucker parents who are weak!  We also let you sleep with us!!!!!!  Who are we????  LOL!  Your sisters have never!  We said we would never! Like I said- you are our baby! And the last baby......so, with that being said we adore you!  You are absolutely precious and make each of us smile every day.  You love and look up to your sisters so much and they are so protective of you. especially Emma.  You want to be big and ride roller coasters at Six Flags, but you still want to be "mommy's baby". You have your daddy wrapped around your finger, still.  You get to spend a lot of precious time with him while your sisters are at school and I am at work. You still hate milk and drink "green juice" (Bolthouse green goodness) with every meal.  You order both chicken AND cheeseburgers at the same time when asked what you want to eat at restaurants. You love to read books and play with your doll house and play doh.  You can spend hours in the back yard on the swings, slide, trampoline and sand box. You are the sunshine of our day and we cannot imagine life without you.  Happy 3rd birthday, my sweet PJ!!!  We love you to the moon and back.

XOXO,

Mommy

Polly, aka Pollyanna, aka Pollywog, aka PJ, aka Poopy Pants,

I cannot believe you're already a big 3 yr old!!!!! I am so lucky to get to spend so much time with you. I wouldn't trade it for the world! You have been such a blessing to this family. You are loved so much by not only your Mom and I, but everyone you come in contact with. You're big sisters love you so much. They will be there for your entire life. Happy Birthday my sweet 3 yr old. Daddy loves you so much!!!

Arlington Half Marathon 2018

The day after Polly's party I ran another half marathon.  The Bearathon was just two weeks ago, but I really wanted to do this local half and since I was all trained I decided to sign up last minute.  I had never run two races this close together, and I was a little nervous about it.  I also had never ran a half completely on my own. I usually have at least one friend at the start with me.  So, this was unknown territory, but it went well!  Chris and the rig were at mile 8 and Dominique was at the finish to cheer me on! I finished strong and with a good time and was glad I did it!

Polly's 3rd Birthday Party!

Polly wanted to have a Trolls "Poppy" Party for her third birthday and we had planned to have it at the park, but the weather made us change our plans.  The week of her party I looked at the forecast and it was predicted to be in the 40's the day of her party!!!!  Not fun for a bunch of 3 year olds, or anyone! So, last minute we booked Pump It Up and it all worked out.  Polly had a great time! Here are the pictures from her party day.

She was so excited!
Aunt Rocks got her this precious outfit!

Sissy and Emma were excited too!

Another fantastic cake by Aunt Rocks!
