Last year Emma got second place in the Hill Turkey Trot for first grade, she lost to a boy named Angel. He beat her by a good 30-40 seconds. She got the title as the fastest girl, but this year she really wanted to win the whole thing. We all came out to watch and cheer her on. She did so good, and almost took first place. Angel and Emma were neck and neck most of the race, he stayed slightly ahead of her most of the time but she stayed with him. At the end she turned it up and caught up to him but he held on and crossed one second before her. I am pretty sure if there has been 10 more yards she would have beat him! I was so proud of her effort and grit. She is an amazing little competitor. Her time: 8:2 was fantastic for a 7 year old (shoot for a 38 year old it was a good time!) Proud of my girl!
