Emma vs Tree

Chris was pushing Emma on Gran's tire swing and accidentally spun her up high and she went head first into the tree.  It was horrifying to witness and the worst sound I have ever heard.  I was convinced she was brain dead. It was like it happened in slow motion too.  He was pushing her high and then all of a sudden he spun the tire and we watched and both realized the trajectory was into the tree and there was nothing we could do.  Then "crack!" her forehead sounded like a bat hitting a tree.  I expected her to be unconscious but she was awake and just stunned.  She didn't even cry, I was hysterical, as were her sisters who also witnessed it.  Chris took her inside and got ice as the goose egg appeared.  Apparently swelling out and not in is good.  She started to get sleepy and said her legs felt weak.  I wanted to take her to the ER, but Chris thought she would be okay as long as she didn't pass out or throw up.  We were not on the same page! I wanted her to be checked out.  Chris felt awful and told me later that he wanted to cry.  We ended up watching her all night and she seemed to be okay.  She did have headaches for a few days and was a little lethargic so it is safe to say that she had a concussion (at the least!).  I still feel nauseated when I think about it.
