Poor Mamaw

Mamaw, my sweet, loving, patient mom had one hell of a day with my two kids. Here is the string of texts that I received from her while I was at work. She attempted an outing alone with the girls and the texts paint the picture so well! I copied and pasted them below.

"There may be a Wanted poster at JoAnn's. I took them to pick out material for me to make the dresses. When the lady measured the material, she asked if the girls always fought like that.
I lied and said, "no never, just in your store." Then we had the girl to girl combat at the checkout. Then, Emma went into her screaming "no, no" routine fighting me all the way to the car. I dropped my purse and our purchases to get Emma in the car and into her car seat. I pulled out of the parking place, and Ryan said, "Mamaw, you forgot to buckle me in." With Emma still screaming, I parked and buckled her in, then opened Emma's door and asked if she needed a hug. She nodded, we hugged and I made my retreat home.
Oh, and Emma arched and fought me putting her into the car seat. Women eyed me in the parking lot. Emma's great now, not sure when I will recover. Grandpa is working on getting her a nap."

This made me laugh out loud, and mom and I laughed about it together over a bottle of wine that evening.  My kids are so lucky to have Mamaw be so involved and take such great care of them. She is so kind and patient, more so than I am.  I am so lucky she didn't quit on me today!  I have been in that position with my kids and I was ready to leave them and run!

Tap toe and Lasterday

Tap Toe- That is what Emma calls tiptoeing.  :-)
Lasterday- Ryan's new word that is a combo of 'last' and 'yesterday'. :-)

I ran a marathon!

I did it!!!! I ran a marathon!  The 16 weeks of training paid off and I survived.  I had so much support along the way.  During the training, and during the race.  I couldn't have done it without all of the support. Chris and the girls were at mile 15, 17 and 22! Catherine and Jeffrey were at mile 11 and 13.  My parents and the Tharp family were at mile 22 and the finish line.  It was pretty cool.  Chris ended up running the last 4 miles with me to help keep me going.  I was very ready to be done.  It was hands down the biggest mental and physical challenge I have overcome in my lifetime.  I was so tired and sore when I got done that I said I would never do another one.  I changed my mind the next day. ;-)
5:00 a.m. race day
About to head to the starting line.

Still smiling at mile 13! Halfway point.
Finished!
Kelli and I showing off our hard earned medals.
She is a fantastic running buddy and an even better friend.
My reminders of who I was running for:
Mile 21 - Mom
Mile 22 - Dad
Mile 23 - Chris
Mile 24 - Ryan
Mile 25 - Emma
Mile 26 - ME!
Came home to congratulatory balloons, notes, cards and magnets
 from neighbors and friends.
Ryan at the bar with the boys.

Cleaned up, enjoying the beautiful day and celebrating our accomplishment.

Our cheering crew! What great friends we have!
(Chris was at work, and mom and dad were at home.
Emma,  Britton and Jeffrey were here, but too busy for pictures.)
My medal
My recovery compression socks that Carol gave me.
I had to work the day after the run! Stairs were not my friend.
Aunt Mis took me to lunch and brought cupcakes for me and all
of my co-workers! They were so yummy!
Battle wounds on my underarms.
OUCH!

Family Yoga

I took the girls to a new kids yoga program in Fort Worth.  It was Emma's first time to get to go, since she is now three years old.  We invited a bunch of friends to join us and had a great time.  The theme was winter olympics!  I love spending time with my girls, and I love that they enjoy the same hobbies as me! Having two little girls is the best!
Ryan patiently waiting for class to start.

She is 100% cute,
and Dr. Nussbaum predicts she will be 6'0" tall!

Emma and her calculator phone

Emma and I went on a date and she talked on her phone (pocket calculator) the entire time.  She called Mamaw, Pa and Sebo (their dog).

VD2014 Part 3!

Chris surprised me with a date! We didn't get to do anything together on VD because he was on shift and then the following day he worked overtime. He secretly lined up Gran and Pawpaw to watch the kids Sunday evening so we could go out for dinner and drinks. It was a nice surprise and so fun! The girls got to go on a date too. They went out for burgers.

Chris came home from work this morning with presents for the girls and cards for all 3 of us.
Love him.
