Houston Dash Premier Cup

Emma's team was invited to play in another Pre-ECNL tournament in Houston so we loaded up the whole family and went down to the Woodlands.  It was a fun weekend with our soccer family.  We also got to see their cousins.  Chris, Polly and Ryan headed home Saturday night because Chris had to work Sunday.  Emma's team ended up winning in the finals.  The game went to PK's! It was so stressful but they pulled it off.  They have now won 2 of the 3 Pre-ECNL tournaments.

10 Year Letters to Emma

 Emma,

My crazy, fun girl!  I can't believe that I have kept up with you for a decade. You NEVER stop moving and talking.  You have never ending energy and we can barely keep up with you.  You have your own sense of style and you do and wear what you want.  Your self assured and confident in all that you do.  You look out for the weak and stand up for what is right.  You continue to be your sisters biggest fans and best playmates. Your grit and skill on the soccer field and basketball court is so fun to watch. I am your biggest fan!  I can't wait to watch what you do this next decade, I hope I can keep up. Love you so much.  Keep shining bright, Emma Reese!

Love,

Mommy

Vaccinated!

My parents and I got our second Moderna vaccine!  I decided to go ahead and get it, as scheduled, even though I had just recovered from Covid.  I knew there was a chance that it would make me feel bad, but I wanted to go ahead and get it and I didn't want to miss the opportunity. 12 hours after I got the shot I could extremely cold, like the coldest I have ever been.  I took a hot bath but still could not stop shivering.  I ended up running a fever and feeling bad for about 18 hours, and then all of a sudden I felt good again.  It was like clock work.  It was worth it, and I am so relieved that my parents are now fully vaccinated!

Levi snuggled with me while I tried to sleep it off.

Beaver Creek, CO

The day I was allowed to return to work happened to be the day we were scheduled to fly to Beaver Creek, Colorado for a ski vacation.  Dr. Woolf and DeeDee offered us their lovely home to stay in and we were super worried we would have to cancel when I got sick, and then everyone else did, too.  I was pretty sick day 4-8, but I bounced back 8-10 and tested myself by running a few times.  I decided I would go and see how it went. I didn't know if the altitude or my tight chest would allow me to ski, but I wanted to give it a try!  The Bergins came with us and I figured either way I would have a fun time.  I ended up feeling pretty good and was able to ski!  Polly went to ski school and Erin worked with Ryan on the first day and got her confidence up.  By the afternoon o the first day skiing all Ivie girls were tearing it up!  It was so much fun!  Of course Emma leaves us all in the dust.  Chris accidentally took her down a double black in their first run!  She did it, I would have been in tears!  No moguls for me!
We had a fantastic week and the house was amazing.  We cooked, played games, worked a puzzle, got massages, enjoyed the hot tub, and had a blast skiing. I am so glad that Covid didn't take this trip from us! And no one threw up on the plane (poor Ryan did throw up on the gondola!)

Leaving Dallas!
After being cooped up for 10 days.
