Baby bird

A nest fell out of one of our trees and Chris found a baby bird.  We had no idea what to do, but I was scared Toot would find it and eat it.  We couldn't find the mom bird, so we put the nest in a box and brought the baby in to figure out what to do.  Ryan named him Cheech and both girls loved taking care of him.  We read online that baby birds need to eat every hour!  I was able to give Cheech water, but after a failed attempt at finding earthworms and a little more internet research we took Cheech back outside.  Since he had all his feathers his potential of survival were greater because he should learn to fly soon.  If we kept him inside we could provide water but not much else. (Not to mention that waking every hour to provide Cheech nutrients sounded horrible!) Chris found a high bush that Toot couldn't climb and set the nest with Cheech in it there.  He also thought he saw Cheech's mom flying around (he may have made that up, to make me feel better). The next morning Cheech was gone, with his mommy of course.
The girls were in awe and helped me give "Cheech"
water through a syringe.
We choose to believe Cheech is flying high outside with his mommy.
