Galveston Beach Trip

We finally took Emma to the beach!  Ryan got to go to the Bahamas at 9 months old and I was determined to get my Pea's feet in the sand this summer.  We decided to take a trip down to Galveston.  Our first beach vacation as a family of four.  We rented a fabulous 3 bedroom house and enjoyed our family time on the beach.  We didn't have the greatest weather, it rained every day.  We maximized the few hours every day when the weather was nice and made it to the beach every day. I never had to put sunscreen on the kids because it was so overcast.  The temps were in the 80's all week so it felt great when it wasn't raining.  We had a few other "mishaps" while we were there.  A thunderstorm blew out the big flat screen in the living room on the second night.  Thank goodness for the IPad with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on it!  There was also an E-coli scare for about 36 hours.  We had to drink bottled water and thankfully I avoided bath time for the girls until the boil advisory was lifted.  That would have been a huge pain, but I would have had to do it because Emma drinks half her bath water nightly. In addition to the beach, we also had use of a country club pool! We also made a trip to the Aquarium and a Galveston fire station.  We ate and drank a ton and relaxed a lot.  We all took naps every day and Chris and I got to run on the beach every morning.  We also got to visit Corey on the way down and the Crowley girls came and spent a night with us at the beach house. The girls loved the golf cart rides to the beach.  Ryan loved sleeping in the top bunk (her choice) and she never got up at night! Emma was very unsure of the sand moving under her feet at first, but ended up enjoying it in the end. We had a great time and the girls did great on both drives to and from.  We will definitely do this trip again!  I took LOTS of pictures, so get ready!

SUNDAY
The girls fell asleep an hour into our drive!

We met Corey at a restaurant and then stayed the night with him
in Houston to break the drive up.
Ryan vandalizing property of Sam's Boat
Emma eating crayons
The girls feeding the fish.
They thought it was cool.
I thought it was gross!
Enjoying Corey's big bathtub!

MONDAY
We went straight to the beach before going to the house!
The girls running on the sand towards the water.

I was so excited to show Emma the ocean!
Emma in awe.
Emma unsure of the sand moving beneath her feet!

Ryan loved it!

Daddy's toes in the sand
She was fine when she could hold my hand.

TUESDAY
Breakfast at the beach!
After a very rest full night for all.
We may be investing in a bunk bed for Ry Pie!
Last morning of watching the big flat screen while we eat.
Bringing a kiddie pool to the beach was a fabulous idea!
Thanks to my friend Roxie (mother of two little girls) for telling me.

No sunscreen needed!
Beer in hand = happy Daddy
Me, not getting a tan!

Big girl sitting on the bench at the table for her meals.
My bigger girl insisting on eating at the coffee table.
We had a fun afternoon (the only one we didn't nap when the girls did).
We drank, laughed, did yoga, played cards and laughed some more!
He is handsome, but not very good at cards!
Busting out a handstand after vodka.
I do not recommend this!

WEDNESDAY
At the Galveston Aquarium

Ryan was so excited when she found Nemo!
Big Sharks!

Tried to get a picture with Emma, but she wouldn't smile.
Then, I tried to get a picture with Ryan..........
.......and this happened

We had to go back to Nemo for a second look before we left.

If you are thinking that Ryan wore this dress the whole week
you are pretty accurate.  Thankfully, we had a washer and dryer
so I washed it a couple of times.

Emma, still a little unsure of the squishy sand.
She still preferred to be holding a hand in the water.

The girls enjoyed the outdoor shower!

THURSDAY

It was rainy Thursday morning so we went and visited a firemen friend
of Chris' at his firehouse.

Then the sun came out so we loaded up the golf cart
and hit the beach for our last hoorah!

Ryan in her favorite swimming attire- her nipples!

My goof balls!

Having dinner and drinks at The Spot on our last night of vacation.

Awesome food and delicious, cold beer!
Grubbin'!
Ryan giving Emma a hug!

We promised Ryan a carousel horsie ride at Pleasure Pier.
We changed our mind when we got there and realized it was gonna cost
$26 for our family just to enter the pier and then another $4 per carousel ride.
We lured her away with the promise of ice cream and she took
the diversion like a champ!  We were so relieved!

FRIDAY
The girls watched Tangled on the IPad, read a few books and
then slept most the way home.
