BGB Update

Ryan asleep in the "upper deck"

We had been doing nap time in the Big Girl Bed (BGB) sporadically, but lately had gotten lazy. Mamaw was making the best effort to get Ry to nap in the toddler bed at her house. Because I had abdominal surgery last week, and was instructed not to lift her, we decided to give a better effort at our house. Ry is able to climb into her BGB all by herself. She started napping in the "upper deck" as her dad calls it, as opposed to the "lower deck" (trundle bed) this past week and then, four nights ago we decided to attempt bedtime in the BGB. Mom gave me advice to try reading books in her BGB, instead of our bed, to make the transition easier. It worked! After a few requests of "Mommy and Daddy's bed" she lay down in the upper deck and let us read and snuggle in there. I snuck out while Chris sang her songs and then he came out. We heard her cry and then heard her little footsteps on the floor. She cried for a few minutes and right before Chris went in to put her in her crib it got quiet. We weren't sure if she was asleep or playing or if she was in bed or on the floor. We decided to let her be and that we would sneak a peek before we went to sleep. So, before we went to bed, Chris opened up her door to check and she was sound asleep on the upper deck of the BGB! She had climbed back up and fallen asleep on her own. And she has done it every night since! The crib is still up but if she makes it a few more nights I am taking it down. More room to play!
